Summer Season Flowers

  • Marigolds
  • Garden Cosmos
  • Daisies

Marigolds

Although marigolds are best known for their vivid yellow or orange blooms, they can also produce maroon or even cream flowers. "Best grown in full sun, marigolds are known for outlasting hot summer days and have been long used as garden companion plants," Henriksen states.

Garden Cosmos

This perennial grows to a height of 2 to 5 feet and has crimson, pink, and white blossoms. It prefers full light. Cosmos bipinnatus is easy to grow from seeds and frequently self-sows, much like Cleome hassleriana. But it will not grow well in rich soil and will produce fewer flowers.

Daisies

Although the perennials labor considerably harder than their dreamy meaning suggests, daisies are a symbol of innocence. For months on end, mounds of towering stems blossom, and they almost always return the following spring.
